Volunteer needed to Lead the ACS Fellows Program

The American Chemical Society (ACS) Fellows Program was created by the ACS Board of Directors in December 2008 to recognize members of ACS for outstanding achievements in and contributions to science, the profession, and the Society. 

We are looking for someone to lead this effort.  Your responsibilities are to nominate candidates and submit their application to national ACS.

Christine Landry-Coltrain

Eastman Kodak Company

Contribution to the science/profession: Recognized for her leadership in R&D of novel materials for functional, consumer, and commercial printing. Also recognized for expertise in polymer thermodynamics, physical aging, and multicomponent materials, including polymer blends and inorganic/organic nanocomposites.

Contribution to the ACS community: Served as Program Chair, Alternate Councilor, Multidisciplinary Program Planning Group representative, and Webmaster for the Division of Polymer Chemistry and Member-at-large for the Division of Polymeric Materials: Science and Engineering. Organized symposia, including the annual Excellence in Graduate Polymer Research.

2015 ACS Fellow from Rochester Section

 

John Texter

Eastern Michigan University

Professor John Texter has over 25 years’ experience in industrial small particle and coating technologies.  He is Professor of Polymer and Coating Technology at Eastern Michigan University.  John has worked for Strider Research Corporation and for Eastman Kodak Company in various areas of dispersion and emulsion technology.

John’s Contribution to the science/profession: Recognized for experimental contributions to our understanding of microemulsion equilibria and soft materials derived from microemulsions and ionic liquid polymerizations.

John’s Contribution to the ACS community: Recognized for more than 20 years of service to the Division of Colloid and Surface Chemistry and for organizing international interdisciplinary conferences in small-particle science, interfacial structure, and supramolecular assembly.

2014 ACS Fellows from Rochester Section

 Henry J. Gysling

CatAssays and Eastman Kodak Company Research Laboratories (Retired)

Contribution to the science/profession: Recognized for development of solution and thermally developed imaging and patterning processes incorporating catalytic high-gain redox amplification chemistry and development of organotellurium ligand chemistry.

Contribution to the ACS community: Served the Rochester Local Section for 35 years in various volunteer and elected positions, including 2000 Chair, with an emphasis on education outreach, professional development, and Northeast Regional Meeting inorganic chemistry programs

 Robert S. Moore

Eastman Kodak Company (Retired)

Contribution to the science/profession: Managed the Eastman Kodak Polymer Physical Chemistry Laboratory of over 30 members, which was the mainstay of the Company's polymer understanding, with over six members becoming senior managers or scientists.

Contribution to the ACS community: With others, led the Division of Polymer Chemistry in programming and educational outreach, becoming Division Chair and then Chair of its Industrial Advisory Board, a significant source of program funding.
